Anybody ever replace the domed deflector and domed deflector strap on one of these? Any tips/advice?
I'd recommend getting the entire kit, part#CLESE50430-2. Chances are the other components that make up the surrounding chamber are worn out as well. The kit includes the generator housing, insulation, domed flame deflector, strap and several other miscellaneous parts. Basically, everything you'll need. Also, make sure to check the steam generator flue liner when you inspect the deflector by removing the side panel it sits on. If the the liner is in bad shape and warped you'll want to order the kit that includes the liner so that the new deflector fits over it properly. You wouldn't want to take all that time disassembling everything only to find out you need that too, and then have the kettle down several more days until your liner comes in. If you order the the kit Cleveland will include step by step instructions with it, although there are a few steps they don't include, but it's pretty easy to figure out once you get into it. Take photos as you go. Make sure you have clearance on both sides of the kettle as you will be removing panels and parts on both sides of the appliance. Lastly, follow the manual and Cleveland recommendations. Cheers!
No idea what you're talking about. Perhaps with a parts manual, you can determine the correct terminology:

I've been mulling over this for a lot of hours. The only thing I can possibly think of with this kettle is the lid. But the strap question baffles the heck out of me. I do remember older kettles that had curved spring strap across a u frame that the lid was fastened to, but not this model.
Hey guy,(or girl), how about registering so we know who you are and your experience. You sound like you have expirience and knowledge that would help some.. And you have changed out a Cleveland combustion chamber.
Thanks for helping our other Guest.
Must be an older unit with a burner/target set up.
