What kind of thread glue should I use for the fittings on the high low valve assembly of my X60-6R24RR?
First off, one never uses a glue. It is called pipe Dope or pipe sealant and it's purpose is primarily a lubricant to prevent high pressure metal to metal friction from galling the threads. Secondly it may fill small voids to prevent leakage, But the seal is supposed to be a precise mechanical seal. Dull treading dies is why sealants were developed. And to avoid the tedious laying of a special thread in the root of the thread..
Your question depends on the type of gas and your local gas codes. Most want a gas approved (NGA) pipe dope, Some today are allowing a special Teflon tape.(yellow). But whatever you find, make sure it is specified for your gas be it natural or propane.
I should also warn you that some Teflons, both tape and dope are not NGA (National Gas Association) approved. Some are natural gas only.
You should have a certified gas tech install this. He/she will have the right materials, and equipment to install it safely. The regulator has to be set with a manometer and tested for leaks.
