I own a scots man ice machine model number SLE300WS-1A serial number 169513-07 and i am looking for an inlet water valve float.
Here is the parts manual. Check page 6 for the part number.
parts for scotsman
Thank you for that bit I was looking for that part itself. They dont make it anymore and can't seem to find a replacement part.
Again thanks for that response
Have you tried calling Scotsman directly? http://www.scotsman-ice.com/service-support/
Perhaps you could use a Ice-O-Matic water valve..They are close to that style.
Yes it appears that the water float valve 80283601 is NLA with no OEM replacement available.
I saw suggestions online that the Ice O Matic and Scotsman valves are similar. I, of course, cannot and do not recommend using a non-OEM part even if the manufacturer is no longer making parts for the unit...
But I'm not going to sit here and tell you you need a new ice machine because of a float valve, either...
I did want to let you know, however, the serial you provided didn't check out on Scotsman's serial lookup. Whether that's because it's incorrect or the serial is too old to be in the online database, I can't say with certainty.
I worked for an oem company, also. However, there were times that a piece was too old and no longer supported. OEM only, is in place for a couple of reasons, the most important being liability. If you put in some jack-leg part and it is later found to be the cause of an injury or property damage, guess who's responsible.
That being said, there are several places that a oem valve may be located, this being one of them. However, many aftermarket sources are starting to dump their stock soon after the mfg. stops support. I would recommend a web search using the oem part number or the machine model number.
The fact that you own the machine gives you a little more lattitude in making the decision as wether to use a part from another mfg. As a tech, my hands are tied by the lawyers, not common sense.
