One of the doors on our range will not stay closed. Heat is escaping the unit as a result. How can we adjust the door to allow it to remain closed?\
Well, how are your "s" hooks? Worn out or maybe one is broken right off?
Are your quadrants sawed almost all the way through? And check those quadrant pins, although they seldom wear too bad.
Could be the spring(s) are weak and need replacement, possibly just adjusting a little tighter.
With the door pushed closed, lift up & down on the bottom, look for movement in the hinge pins and bushings of the door. A little slack there makes a big difference.
Lastly, check the door hooks, where the top of the "s" hook loops over- you might find there is now an elongated slot instead of a nice round hole, and you'll need to weld and drill new ones or replace the door innards. (I'm looking at you, Vulcan)
And may I take this oportunity, as I am want to do from time-to-time, and rant about SIT pilot assemblies? And the (lack of) access to them. As a nominally large kinda guy, I can not fit my hands in through the front to install said pilot assy or it's special thermocouple, or special ferrule, etc. Bah, I say!
Other than that, I dunno...
