Hi, Looking for a pilot assembly for a 1985 rheem 2.5 ton heat pump
Firstly: This forum addresses commercial cooking, food prep, warewashing and refrigeration equipment. This forum does NOT deal with HVAC systems, car or lawn mower parts or domestic appliances. For your HVAC questions, there are other forums on the internet which are specifically suited for answering your question.
Secondly: A HEAT PUMP does not require a pilot assembly. A heat pump heats through the operation of a refrigeration cycle running in reverse. Unless, of course, your unit a hybrid that uses a gas furnace as an emergency heat source. I didn't know they made those back in 1985. With my not being well versed in HVAC systems, I can only naively say that I thought most furnaces used a HSI as an ignition source instead of a pilot.
Thirdly: I'm fairly certain that, in order for you to pin down an exact replacement part for your...uh - HEAT PUMP, you'll need to provide a proper model and serial number to whoever you're seeking assistance from.
And, for what its worth, ectofix is correct about everything he said.
